Embedded AI/ML Engineer - Machine Learning / Edge AI / Embedded Systems

We're working with one of the leading names in this field and they're seeking several Embedded AI/ML Engineers to join them on a hybrid model (3 days per week onsite) in Eindhoven in Netherlands on a long term freelance contract basis (initial 12 month contract)

To be successful in this role, you should have at least 5 years experience in software engineering, with significant exposure/involvement with Machine Learning and AI, plus ideally experience with embedded systems, software and NPU accelerators and an understanding of AI toolchains, deployment, portability and inference engines (CUDA, TensorRT, TFLite, ONNX, etc.).

As an Embedded AI/ML Engineer, you will be focused on enabling optimization techniques such as quantization, pruning, distillation, neural architecture search, etc. both for discriminative AI (CNNs, RNNs, Transformers, etc.) and Generative AI (LLMs, Stable Diffusion, etc.) at the Edge and you will build demonstrators and proof-of-concepts for EdgeAI applications and methodologies, among other tasks.

What we look for:

  • MSc, PhD or PDEng in Computer Science or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with significant exposure/involvement with Machine Learning / AI
  • Affinity and experience with embedded systems, software and NPU accelerators.
  • Experience with embedded software architectures, build systems, version control systems.
  • Broad experience with Operating systems GNU/Linux, embedded systems, development boards, and processors, and SW competencies.
  • Track-record experience in working with AI frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.)
  • Familiarity with setting up and maintaining related ML-Ops development environments (MLFlow, ClearML, etc.)
  • Solid programming experience of C, C++, Python and Bash programming languages on Linux systems

Desired skills:

  • Understanding of AI toolchains, deployment, portability and inference engines (CUDA, TensorRT, TFLite, ONNX, etc.)
  • Knowledge of build systems (YOCTO, OpenEmbedded, etc.) beneficial, working with cross-compilation toolchains for ARM preferred.
  • Experience with on-device learning and federated learning
  • Familiarity with future technologies for extreme efficiency such as in-memory, analog, and neuromorphic computing
