Job Description

As a Senior Connectivity IP Counsel in the Licensing team, you'll have the opportunity to create maximum value from an extensive IP portfolio through licensing and other commercial IP-based activities. You will participate in the conception and execution of appropriate IP strategies. You will also handle IP matters in a wide range of collaborations with third parties and manage litigation.

You will collaborate with global colleagues to:

• Evaluate invention disclosures with the goal of providing optimal protection and generating maximum long-term value.
• Prepare, file, and prosecute high-quality patent applications meeting international standards. Maintain a substantial and active prosecution docket of patent applications.
• Support infringement and validity analysis, including claim chart mapping to technical standards, AI-driven connectivity technologies, and large language models (LLMs) used in telecommunication and connectivity applications.
• Support analysis of third-party patents in the relevant technology domains, including AI-driven signal processing, AI-enhanced networking, and LLMs applied to communication protocols and cybersecurity.
• Advise on IP strategies for AI-based innovations, including neural network architectures, LLMs, federated learning in connectivity, AI-driven resource allocation, and automated network optimization.
• Work closely with AI engineers, researchers, and data scientists to identify patentable AI technologies, particularly in areas such as generative AI, NLP, anomaly detection, and AI-powered security in network systems.
• Contribute to licensing negotiations, litigation, and defense strategies related to AI patents and AI-generated inventions.

• You are a positive, collegial, cooperative, and open team player who enjoys a rapidly changing environment and feels comfortable working in a global team on projects involving professionals from around the world.
• You have a Master's or PhD degree and a technical background in electrical engineering, AI engineering, machine learning, or a related field with a focus on AI applications in connectivity.
• You have subject matter expertise in AI-powered connectivity, telecommunication technologies, and machine learning models for network optimization , preferably with knowledge of relevant standards such as 4G, 5G, or 6G.
• You are a qualified European patent attorney who has passed the European Qualifying Examination (EQE).
• You have at least 5 years of work experience in IP drafting and prosecution, portfolio management and counseling, defending IP assertions, contributing to IP litigations, and/or IP licensing, including experience with AI and machine learning-related patents.
• You are familiar with AI regulatory frameworks, patentability of AI models (including LLMs), and the evolving landscape of AI-generated inventions.
• You have excellent analytical and intellectual capabilities.
• You have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and strong presentation skills, able to operate at all levels both internally and externally.
• You are flexible and adaptable to working in a multicultural environment.
• You are a positive and open team player with excellent relationship-building, influencing, and negotiating abilities.
