SYSTEMIQ is an organisation driving system change in clean energy, circular material solutions and sustainable land use. By addressing failures in these areas, SYSTEMIQ aims to unlock economic opportunities that benefit business, society and the environment. We connect the right people, ideas, technologies, and capital to transform economic systems. We do this through five activities:

- Convene and support coalitions of leaders to shape policies and business strategies that will rapidly transform economic activity;
- Work with companies that want to be pioneers in and drivers of change towards more sustainable systems;
- Co-create and incubate the market solutions most likely to build regenerative economic systems;
- Invest our own venture capital and expertise in opportunities with the biggest potential to drive rapid system change;
- Direct larger pools of capital into regenerative economic systems, so that these scale and multiply.

In order to deliver in these areas, we recruit and develop distinctive and varied individuals who strive to achieve our mission, challenge the status quo and act as change leaders.

**The Energy Transitions Commission**

The ETC is a global coalition of over 55 leading global executives from across the energy landscape (energy companies, energy-intensive industries, equipment providers, investors, environmental NGOs and academics). Its mission is to define how to most effectively transition to net-zero carbon energy systems that also enable economic prosperity, and how to accelerate the required action from public and private decision-makers. The ETC is chaired by Lord Adair Turner. Its secretariat is hosted by SYSTEMIQ.

The ETC positions itself as a unique voice in the global and regional climate/energy debates (due to the diversity of its membership), a thought-partner for policymakers, private sector players and civil society stakeholders, and a convener of action-oriented high-level discussions, able to bring around the same table a varied range of stakeholders to orchestrate in-depth, analytically-robust debates on specific aspects of the transition that can truly inform and build support for ambitious actions.

A robust, fact-based approach is the calling-card of the ETC. ETC research covers all key dimensions of the transition to a net-zero GHG economy and is developed in partnership with industry and expert stakeholders. In 2018, the ETC published Mission Possible, the first global report outlining how to reach net-zero carbon emissions in the harder-to-abate sectors of the economy - heavy industry and heavy-duty transport - by mid-century. In 2020 and 2021 the ETC built on this analysis with an economy-wide report Making Mission Possible, and targeted reports on Clean Electrification and Clean Hydrogen.

In 2023, the ETC also launched its series of insights briefings on overcoming barriers to clean electrification, including **_Streamlining planning and permitting to accelerate wind and solar deployment briefing_**_, _**_Better, faster, cleaner: securing clean energy technology supply chains and_**_ _**_Material and resource requirements for the energy transition_**. Finally, the pre-COP28 report from the ETC **_Committing to the phase-down of all fossil fuels_** **called for accelerated reductions of fossil fuel demand and supply to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.

In 2024, the ETC is focusing on four key building blocks: Extending engagement in the global climate debate; Continuing to engage with the COP process to deliver action; Building the clean energy system faster; and Extending our influence in key regions.

This role will report to the Head of Analysis of the ETC and work closely with the Director, Deputy Director and Chair.

**Duties and Essential Job Functions**

The Senior Energy Insights Analyst will take responsibility for leading the ETC’s work on a key transition topic. For example:

- The role of molecules in the energy transition, focusing on the role of hydrogen, sustainable bioenergy, fossil and air-captured CO2 in complementing an electrification-focused transition to net-zero globally by mid-century.
- The costs and impacts of the transition on consumers, citizens and business.
- Thought leadership and analytical work:_
- Develop and own high-quality analytical outputs to inform discussions with industry and policymakers - based on literature review, quantitative and qualitative analysis
- Synthesize analyses in a way that brings clarity and structure on complex and disparate topics
- Articulate analytically robust, industry-backed, high-ambition narratives
- Refine both analyses and narratives in close collaboration with industry players and external experts
- Produce workshop materials, briefs, technical papers, reports, and other relevant materials
