**Welcome to our team**

The Medical Affairs department in the Netherlands consists of approximately 25 colleagues with backgrounds as doctors, pharmacists, or (PhD in) life sciences, and it serves as the scientific heartbeat of the company. The team is subdivided into 3 sub-teams with focus on Oncology, Specialty and General Medicine and Vaccines & Infectious Diseases. We pride ourselves on following the science and using our medical knowledge to ensure we maximize the impact our innovative medicines have on patients’ lives. We believe that through diversity of thought, we can come up with better ideas and solutions to keep pushing the boundaries of medicine.

**Purpose of the role**

As the Medical Advisor for Vaccines, your primary focus will be on our Pneumococcal vaccine portfolio, while also overseeing our pediatric vaccines. In this role, you will engage in scientific exchanges to discuss our vaccine data and gather valuable insights from leading experts in the field.

One of your key responsibilities will be to develop a comprehensive back planning strategy, coordinating with other departments such as PCPH (Policy Communications & Population Health) and VPA ( Value & Patient Access). This ensures that all necessary steps for a successful launch or tender participation are identified, with a clear and actionable plan in place.

A crucial part of your work involves data analytics and making informed, data-driven decisions, particularly regarding the predicted clinical benefits for the Dutch population. You will ensure that our scientific data on current and upcoming vaccines is effectively communicated to our stakeholders, including during Horizonscan meetings.

Staying informed about the vaccine landscape, especially those vaccines included in or eligible for the National Immunization Program of the Netherlands, will be essential. Additionally, you may take on further responsibilities to help achieve our GMA NL objectives.

In this role, you are committed to ensuring our vaccines are presented accurately and compellingly, driving forward our mission to improve public health through vaccination.

**Primary responsibilities**

In alignment with the Country Medical Director and the Therapeutic Leads, you will ensure the availability of a comprehensive plan for priority products to shape the environment in the Netherlands at an early stage. Your responsibilities include:

- Providing a thorough description of the medical indication, covering treatment options, the competitive landscape, data gap analysis, and a SWOT analysis.
- Ensuring the availability of a Scientific Leader/Key Decision Maker (SL/KDM) roster.
- Identifying opportunities for collaboration with the Global Clinical Trial Operations (GCTO) in MRL trials.
- Working closely with the Value & Patient Access (VPA) department to conduct fit and gap analyses, ensuring patient access by identifying opportunities and threats related to tender shaping and reimbursement. Collaborating with VPA on the design and execution of Real-World Evidence (RWE) and/or Health Technology Assessment (HTA) data for current and future indications, as needed.
- Partnering with the PCPH (Policy Communications & Population Health) department to identify opportunities or threats within the current policy landscape, ensuring PCPH colleagues are prepared for new indications/products and collaborating on identifying potential policy implications.
- Collaborating on Data-Driven Analysis (DDA) relevant to the business, acting as a medical facilitator. This includes analyzing the scope of unmet medical needs, positioning new products in the treatment landscape by reviewing data on treatment decisions, and assessing public interest in specific diseases and treatments.
- Identifying data gaps and flagging potential Local Data Generation (LDG) or other data generation projects early on.

**Your profile**:

- Life-science PhD, PharmD, or MD with fluency in English (written and spoken); fluency in Dutch is preferred.
- Proven experience in translating detailed medical information into core messages for stakeholders and performing back planning and fit and gap analyses to drive strategic decisions.
- Extensive experience with data generation, including setting up clinical trials or conducting database analyses in the health sciences.
- Demonstrated ability to coach scientific/medical colleagues at all skill levels, combined with excellent interpersonal communication, presentation skills, strong personal integrity, teamwork abilities, business acumen, and a focus on scientific education and dialogue.
- Thorough understanding of local/regional regulatory agencies and other ethical guidelines, laws, and regulations relevant to the pharmaceutical industry to ensure compliance with all external and internal guidelines and standard operating procedures.
