1 week geleden

Nieuwegein, Nederland KWR Voltijd

Given the growing activities within the team and KWR in the field of groundwater quality and the behaviour of contaminants in the subsurface, there is a short-term need for a Groundwater Quality/Hydrochemistry researcher who contributes to our projects based on content and enthusiasm and who also has his or her own substantive focus.

About KWR

Safe and clean drinking water is a great asset. KWR is an internationally renowned research institute in the field of water quality, the water cycle and sustainable development. ‘Bridging science to practice’ is our mission. From our fully sustainable building with ‘state of the art’ laboratories, our approximately 200 employees from two knowledge groups work on innovative projects in the Netherlands and increasingly in and outside Europe. The ten Dutch drinking water companies and the Belgian ‘De Watergroep’ are our shareholders.

Our researchers work at the interface of science, business and society. Their strength lies in the translation of scientific knowledge into applicable practical solutions for end users in the Dutch and international water sector. To support the research, KWR has specialized laboratories, a test hall and test installations are built in-house. In addition, company-specific software is developed for use within projects.

**Profile**:
We are looking for a broadly deployable researcher. A professional who wants to work at the dynamic intersection of research and practice on various research projects in the field of groundwater quality and the behavior and transport of contaminants in the subsurface.

Are you naturally curious, are you intrinsically drive to contribute to a sustainable society, do you mainly see opportunities instead of obstacles and do you want to continue to develop yourself? Then we would like to meet you

Furthermore:

- You have a completed academic education that is relevant to this position for example (geo)hydrology, earth or environmental sciences (with a chemical background);
- You are excellent at operating independently, autonomously and in a team;
- You are able to plan and organize your work well, you are creative, innovative and able to translate complex issues into appealing and feasible research projects;
- You have an excellent command of the Dutch and English language, both spoken and written;
- You have experience with modeling (ground)water quality and knowledge of Python;
- You have several years of work experience.

The team

Within the Geohydrology team, the focus is on using the (deeper) subsurface to contribute to social solutions for water, energy and food problems. At the dynamic intersection of research and practice, we want to work on various research projects in the field of water and subsurface. The 16 professionals have a very diverse background and experience and conduct applied scientific research into, among other things, freshwater supply in salinizing deltas and drying out areas, water reuse, protection and use of groundwater and geothermal energy. In addition, research into well management and well clogging is also important. There is a lot of intensive collaboration with colleagues from the Ecohydrology team. The atmosphere within both teams is informal and strongly focused on cooperation and innovation.

Our offer to you

We attach great importance to personal growth and career development and offer various opportunities for this, such as courses and skills training. A good work/life balance is our top priority. KWR has excellent primary and secondary employment conditions and is affiliated with the Water companies collective labor agreement (Flexible Employment Conditions Budget, ABP pension). In addition, working from home is partly possible.

KWR employees carry out their practical work in a sustainably built glass building, designed for cooperation and knowledge sharing between teams and partners. With this position and our profile - a socially relevant organization where we work together and make an important contribution to connecting water science with practice - KWR offers a special working environment.
