Your internship at Rijk Zwaan
We strive for the highest quality seeds and continuously invest in research and development. Every year, 30% of turnover is invested in research and development. All vegetable varieties bred at Rijk Zwaan often end up in the Biochemistry department for research. In parallel, IMS develops methods for the non-destructive assessment of plant quality traits. During your research you will develop sensors and image analysis strategies that will assist plant selection, with the ultimate purpose of extending shelf life and improving visual quality traits. During your internship you will engage in:
- Using light sensors to measure quality related plant traits
- Developing image analysis methods for predicting plant quality traits
- Use AI-based tools to analyze images of the cropWhere will you be working?

Here, you will be coached daily by our staff who work with passion. You will be part of a team of postharvest and imaging specialists working on content and quality analysis of all Rijk Zwaan crops.What can you expect from us?

- Internship remuneration of 500 euros per month (full-time)

Your contribution:
As a Biochemistry and AI intern, you have a keen interest in analysing data. You have a proactive attitude and an eye for detail. It is important that you have knowledge of the basics of Computer Vision. Experience with AI-based Computer Vision is totally good, but not a requirement You are available to work on research for a minimum of four months. You will be working in a team of International specialists, where a good command of the English language and good communication skills are necessary. Furthermore, we can find the following on your CV:
- An HBO or WO student majoring in life sciences of biotechnology
- Possessing project management skills
- Basic understanding of photography, image analysis and spectrophotometry is essential
