The Challenge
Mechanical Inspector
In this role you will travel to various equipment manufacturers worldwide to supervise the construction of Urea equipment starting from pre-inspection meeting to final delivery. Additionally you will be the technical lead at plant inspections, LTA ‘s, on-site repair-, commissioning and relining jobs.

- Execute Quality Control by inspections up to and including the final inspection during the manufacturing phase of critical high pressure equipment;
- Execute plant inspections of equipment during turnarounds of Urea plants or adjacent industries;
- Monitors and evaluate Non Destructive Examinations as carried out by external parties and/or equipment suppliers;
- Support and manage repairs to mechanical HP equipment, such as relining’s and leakages;
- Review design documentation, welding procedures and ITP’s, as made by Engineering Contractors and equipment suppliers;
- Prepare and lead the Pre Inspection Meeting of Equipment Supply projects, and align about the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) with all parties involved (client, manufacturer and third parties);
- Provide feedback with regard to equipment design and manufacturing techniques;
- Responsible for the proper execution of the ITP steps with regards to our proprietary specifications and design code;
- Responsible for reporting the performed inspections;
- Responsible for the follow up and handover of the (final) documentation of the HP equipment;
- Proactively anticipate to deviations during the manufacturing process in shops;
- Drafts a scope of work for the site activities, brief with the involved parties and define final scope for execution;
- Responsible for inspections at site as described in scope;
- Report and present daily and final inspection results of a Plant Inspection to the client and the home office (findings and advice on inspection intervals, repair methods and residual life time of equipment);
- Act as a supervisor and/ or team lead during the execution of site jobs (such as relining, repairs and modifications);
- Perform “Life Time Assessment Studies” at plants worldwide;
- Implement knowledge and experience into incremental innovation projects;
- Report and present inspection results of a Plant Inspection during the De-Briefing meeting at the home office with all stakeholders involved;
- Propose new Business leads to the relevant Sales department subtracted from findings of the Plant Inspection and outcome of discussion with client;
- Provide specific trainings regarding welding and materials for clients and contractors.
**As our next Mechanical Inspector you**:
- Need be aware to travel for longer and multiple periods of time per year;
- Need to be in possession of European passport and a valid driver’s license in order to ensure being able to travel for the job to a variety of countries worldwide;
- Combine at least a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering with relevant years of experience in the field of equipment inspections (QA/QC) and or corrosion inspections of process equipment in (petro)-chemical industry
- Have in-depth knowledge of Mechanical engineering and fabrication knowledge specific with respect to high pressure equipment, construction material, welding, corrosion, NDE techniques;
- Have Urea-related process knowledge and understanding of corrosion aspects, predominantly related to HP equipment, assessment-related requirements laid down in international standards and codes;
- Recognize yourself in the characteristics: accurate, flexible with strong focus on service, able to work with deadlines with strong focus on results and team spirit;
- Have good reporting skills, you are convincing, persuasive and can communicate with clients on all levels;
- Are fluent in English both spoken and written.
