1 MISSION OF THE DEPARTMENT
- Enable the WWF mission by driving a strong, inspiring, compelling, and strategic communications approach to ensure and support conservation impact in line with the strategic priorities of WWF International.
- To drive strategic communications to the Network, Governing bodies, International Secretariat, and leadership in support of WWF International's strategic priorities.
- To drive the strategic alignment on articulating consistent external positions on emerging issues across the Network.
- To ensure a coherent ‘One WWF, One Voice’ by integrating and supporting the communications, media, and brand functions across WWF International and supporting these services to the network (offices in over 90 countries).
- To engage targeted audiences across the globe to accelerate conservation impact, influence decision-makers, and build the WWF brand.
- To facilitate and coordinate the development and alignment of a global communications strategy.
- To provide common technology platforms Network-wide to enable communication with key audiences.
- To provide a Centre of Excellence to the Network and convene the Communications Community in terms of communications practice.
- MAJOR FUNCTIONS
- Develops and implements strategies to support influencing, motivating, and driving action in support of global conservation goals amongst priority stakeholders through media channels.
- Proactive global reputation building to profile and deepen understanding of WWF’s work and values, as well as the wider complexities and challenges of conservation work through impactful narratives.
- Leads the WWF’s global press office, building and maintaining critical relationships with journalists and identified media outlets in line with network protocols.
- Promotes compelling and consistent communications across the WWF network by collaborating with network colleagues to define and manage unified narratives and messaging in both proactive and reactive circumstances.
- Leads on global media engagement strategy at international and multilateral fora, in collaboration with WWF core delegation teams, and network colleagues.
- Monitors and evaluates the success of WWF’s media engagement, and implements continuous improvement of global media relations, based on performance analysis and learning.
- Manages and motivates the global media team and promotes their professional development.
3 Major
**Responsibilities**:
- Responsible for managing the work of the Media Relations teams in line with agreed communications priorities, including all content output and coordination of actions to address and advance assigned communications objectives.
- Responsible for managing the life cycle and coordination of media work streams, including developing and implementing communication plans, materials, and guidance.
- Provide support and guidance to the Network offices to build media relations capacity, manage risk, and ensure maximum message alignment in line with agreed communications priorities.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders (such as the key conservation ‘Practice’ areas, corporate partnerships team, key program leads, and relevant communication focal points) to support the development of media strategies that build a positive profile of WWF’s impact and values, redress misinformation and support organizational goals using news and creative thought leadership content.
- Manage content output across all media and platforms for priority international advocacy and policy conventions, meetings, and events, and lead media relations at such events.
- Ensure WWF has adequate spokespersons on key issues, and act as spokesperson for WWF when required.
- Develop relations with relevant international news outlets - online and traditional, in alignment with network protocols and conjunction with National/Country/Programme offices.
- Provide input into integrated communications strategies as required, and collaborate closely with leaders of the Communications & Marketing Department to maximize opportunities and align messaging.
