Dat kan als Research Manager bij de expertisegroep Digital Built Environment (DBE) binnen de Unit Mobility and Built Environment (MBE). In deze rol lever je een belangrijke bijdrage aan onze ambitie om samen met de overheid, bedrijven en kennisinstellingen te werken aan een duurzamere leefomgeving.**Wat ga je doen?**:
**Introductie**
Wie zijn wij? De expertisegroep Digital Built Environment telt ruim 30 medewerkers, die gezamenlijk werken aan digitaliseringsvraagstukken rondom gebouwen, kunstwerken, kassen en huizen. Onze technologielijnen zijn asset lifecycle management, rekenmodellen en AI, predictive digital twins en multi-criteria analyse. We passen hierin meerdere expertises toe zoals system engineering, data science, BIM, linked data, standaardisatie wetenschappelijk programmeren en modelleren. Onze projecten doen we in opdracht voor en samen met industrie, overheden en andere stakeholders in binnen
- en buitenland. Onze impactdomeinen zijn high-tech greenhouses, data-driven infrastructures, data-driven buildings en digital indoor climate and energy. Hierbij werken we ook veelvuldig samen met experts van andere TNO-afdelingen, waarbij digitalisering vaak een enabler, accelerator en scale-up is van innovaties rondom mobiliteit en gebouwde omgeving.

De afdeling is opgestart in januari 2023 met als standplaats Delft, waarbij de digitaliseringsexperts zijn gebundeld vanuit de unit, aangevuld met nieuwe collega’s met nieuwe expertises. Het is een gevarieerde mix van recent afgestudeerde en ervaren medewerkers met verschillende studieachtergronden. De groep is relatief jong (gemiddeld 41 jaar) en internationaal (circa 23% internationals). De voertaal is Engels, maar we vinden het belangrijk dat er ook regelmatig Nederlands wordt gesproken, omdat we veel Nederlandstalige stakeholders en klanten hebben. Verder hebben we wekelijkse informele stand-ups met cake en daarnaast vinden we het leuk om af en toe social events te hebben.

Dit jaar hebben we ook het Predictive Twin Lab opgericht en is DBE in de lead om dit Lab verder vorm te geven binnen TNO met externe zichtbaarheid. Verder zijn we ook prominent betrokken in het Joint Innovation Center, een samenwerking tussen TNO en Universiteit Twente. Tenslotte zijn Hortivation en Rijkswaterstaat onze belangrijkste twee accounts. In samenwerking met Hortivation focussen we op innovaties in de glastuinbouw gericht op kassen en adaptief en autonoom telen. Samen met Rijkswaterstaat richten we ons op de digitaliseringsaspecten van de vervangingsopgave van kunstwerken zoals bruggen.

**De rol**
Als researchmanager ben je eindverantwoordelijk voor alle aspecten van jouw expertisegroep. Van strategie tot operatie en van planning tot uitvoering. Ook ga jij over alle personeelszaken. Je team bestaat uit ruim 30 professionals die door jou uitgedaagd willen worden in hun persoonlijke en professionele ontwikkeling. Je bent daarom niet alleen hun manager, maar ook iemand die zich kan verplaatsen in en kan voortbouwen op de expertise die zij hebben en met hen kan bespreken hoe zij kunnen groeien in zowel hun expertise als in hun persoonlijke ontwikkeling. Dit vereist kennis van de relevante werkvelden en inzicht in het netwerk van stakeholders en de belangen daarin.
Omdat er veel met andere afdelingen wordt samengewerkt vraagt dit om expliciete aandacht voor deze verbindingen en een gezamenlijke uitlijning van relevante technologieontwikkelingen. Als RM onderken je dit belang en geef je hieraan sturing.

Als Research Manager zorg je voor een inspirerende visie, afgestemd op de strategie van de Unit MBE. Je waarborgt de afstemming van kennis en capaciteit op de marktvraag, zowel intern als extern. Daarnaast is de researchmanager DBE onderdeel van het propositieteam “Energy Positive Built Environment” binnen de unit. Tevens heeft de RM ook een goede link met andere proposities zoals civiele infrastructuur en circulair en industrieel bouwen. Het ontwikkelen van een hoogwaardige technologieportfolio en personeelsontwikkeling behoren tot je kerntaken. Je leidt de dagelijkse werkzaamheden, bewaakt de projectvoortgang en onderhoudt contact met relevante stakeholders. Samen met het managementteam van MBE bouw je aan een sterke eenheid voor de toekomst.**Wat wij van jou verwachten**:
