**What will you do?**

The work of the Process Safety Manager will focus on the establishment and improvement of all the elements relevant for a proper process safety management.

**Responsibilities**:

- Lead and/or participate in the process safety studies, like HAZID, HAZOP and LOPA
- Lead the (root cause) investigation of process safety incidents and drive their follow-up
- Implementation and improvement of leading and lagging performance indicators
- Organize, provide and give QHSE oriented trainings to all relevant staff members
- Support the Safety Culture Team
- Deliver communications regarding hazardous work and/or work spots
- Support all sites with respect to issues coming from permits, inspections, or design
- Plan/perform daily observations and internal audits within the organization.

The Process Safety Manager reports to the QHSE director and serves the Amsterdam offices and laboratories at Zekeringstraat and Science Park (UVA Campus) as well as the Pilot plant in Geleen (Brightlands-Chemelot) and the Flagship plant in Delfzijl (Chemiepark Delfzijl). You will be based mainly at our Amsterdam office.

**What do you bring?**

To be successful in this role, you require proper knowledge and experience in the process safety area, and are required to have knowledge of chemical laboratory operations.

You’ll need:

- Bachelor / master’s degree in chemistry or related science
- A diploma for an education in Safety Management (Dutch: HVK or equal)
- Adequate knowledge of chemical laboratory operations and their best practices
- Expertise in Operational Discipline
- Preferably 5 or more years of working experience in a chemical environment
- Experience with management of incidents and near misses
- Proper knowledge of Dutch and European laws, regulations, and standards
- Experienced in implementing assets integrity and reliability plans
- Being able to provide adequate training to laboratory and manufacturing staff
- Good written & oral communication skills in English. Knowledge of the Dutch language is desired but not a requirement
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills to communicate effectively.
