Credit Controller

**We are looking for a Credit Controller to join our HQ in Barendrecht**

**WHAT WE DO**

Our purpose is to protect our customers, people and the environment. We do this by testing and inspecting fuel and oil for our customers in the Marine and Power industry and using this information to provide advice based on legislative and technical specifications. Our guidance enables our customers to improve business performance by optimising their use of resources, minimising their environmental emissions and operating in a more sustainable manner. The challenge of decarbonization of the Marine industry is massive towards 2030 and 2050 and VPS plays a critical role in this transformation. This is supported with digital products of own developed tools and recently acquired business that fully focus on reducing the carbon footprint of our customers.

**THE OPPORTUNITY**

As a Credit Controller at VPS, you will play a pivotal role in managing our accounts receivable portfolio and ensuring timely payment from our customers. You will be responsible for assessing credit risk, monitoring outstanding invoices, and implementing strategies to minimize bad debt and improve cash flow. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, drive process improvements, and optimize credit management practices.

The role reports to the Financial Manager and is based in Barendrecht.

**YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Responsible for meeting targets in monthly receivables and keeping bad debt to a minimum.
- High volume of communication with debtors.
- Liaise with sales Account Managers regarding overdue/disputed accounts.
- Disputes review on a weekly basis with escalation to account managers and directors as appropriate.
- Dealing with accounts that have gone into liquidation including liaising with administrators.
- Assessment of credit worthiness of potential and existing customers including determining credit limits and payment terms.
- Report monthly to Finance Manager about the status from creditors.

**WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR**
- Minimum degree MBO 4 or HBO level of work and thinking.
- Experience with Office (Excel/Word/Outlook) is required and experience in Credit Control systems beneficial.
- English language must be at high level both written and spoken.
- Team player and comfortable in a multicultural and international environment.
- Must possess and demonstrate a high degree of integrity.
- Commitment to continuous improvement.
- Strong communication, analytical and organizational skills.
- Experience with establishing and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to effectively cope with change and multi-task.
- Must be organized, detail orientated and able to function effectively under pressure and produce detailed, error free work with unlimited timeframes.
