**About Improvement & Quality (IQ)**
IQ is responsible for managing the management system, assuring the quality of operational activities (bids, projects and products) and supporting the maturity and performance of the organisation with the aim of improving customer satisfaction and driving competitiveness. The department enhances the accountability of operational teams for the quality of their output, strengthens the learning, improvement and problem solving capabilities and develops the maturity of the organisation by leveraging operational best practices. IQ has a responsibility to increase transparency when it comes to operational performance and reports independently to senior business management.
For the QA team of the Naval-NL business unit, we are looking for a CMS HW Quality Assurance Manager (QAM) who will focus on Mission System Hardware for the F126 program, that is to deliver very high volumes of highly complex cabinets, consoles, interface units, control panels, and other hardware. This hardware is to be successfully designed, produced, assembled, integrated, qualified, accepted and delivered to 4 next-generation frigates and 6 land based test sites for the German Navy.
**About your future job**
As a Quality Assurance Manager (QAM) for F126 Mission System Hardware, you contribute by assuring the quality of these products, making sure that the relevant operational teams, internal and mainly our suppliers are in line with all relevant processes/governance, risk and opportunity management and problem solving. In doing so, you always keep in mind the perspective of the customer and ensure that the products meets the technical and non-technical requirements and expectations. As a QAM, you have an independent role and will report to both project and line management on the operational performance of the teams you are involved in.
As QAM for CMS HW, you will be involved with multiple internal stakeholders (the product organisation, other QAMs, engineering department, project management etc.) as well as external stakeholders (the customer incl. Government Quality Assurance Representatives - GQAR -, suppliers and subcontractors etc.).
You will work closely together with selected suppliers and their management and quality organization to enable a seamless acceptance of the supplied goods by Thales and Thales’ customers.
Particular to F126 HW is the high volume and types of hardware deliverables, in a complex global supply chain. As F126 HW QAM you have the task of taking supplier performance & quality management to the next level, taking a QA approach with suppliers to develop & secure their competency to deliver this hardware on time and with quality. For this you will put together and lead a multi-disciplinary team from representatives from procurement, supply chain, engineering, and IVVQ, to audit & develop suppliers worldwide. You should consider regular international travel as a fun and critical part of the job.
In addition to the above, you may be involved in (transverse) problem solving and Root Cause Analysis (RCA), 8Ds, audits, assessments and other improvement initiatives. Training in tools and practices will explicitly be part of your onboarding program and personal development.
This job provides you with the opportunity to boost and broaden your professional development. In three to five years, you will gain thorough knowledge of our Naval domain and products, our organisation and our processes. You will strengthen your risk management, problem solving and improvement skills, and quickly expand your network. This job can serve as a stepping stone towards a (more senior) position within any one of our operational or staff departments.
The total scope of your portfolio depends on the demand from the organisation and the allocation of resources within the QA team, thereby aiming for both continuity and multi employability as well as the personal development of the QAM’s.
