At Van Oord, our Finance and Control department is the base for our financial set up, which includes the Global Financial Shared Service Center (GFSSC). This department manages our accounting tasks in the most efficient way possible. It plays a key role in supporting our wide range of projects, Business Units, and staff departments. The GFSSC has six specific teams, most of which focus on different accounting jobs, working from our active offices in Rotterdam and Dubai.

Whether based in Rotterdam or Gorinchem, you can begin or conclude your day in our fully-equipped office gym. While we support flexible home working arrangements, your presence in the office is highly valued for fostering a collaborative and vibrant team environment. Our GFSSC team is a diverse assembly, comprising 68 professionals from 13 different nationalities, distributed among specialized sub-teams. As an integral member of the Business Support team, you will contribute to our culture of inclusivity and excellence.
As a key member of the Business Support team within our Global Financial Shared Service Center, you will engage in diverse and challenging financial accounting tasks that are crucial to our operations. Here’s what you can expect to contribute and develop in your role:
- Financial Solutions: Contribute to tailored accounting activities such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Bank posting, and Intercompany invoicing or other various administrative tasks to meet the unique needs of our projects and departments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with global financial standards.
- Financial Tracking: Keep track of balances from historical transactions and ensure they are current and accurate.
- Cross department Collaboration: Work closely with other teams within the finance department and across the organization to ensure seamless financial operations.
- Process Optimization: Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements within the financial operations to increase efficiency and standardize financial processes.
- Compliance and Control: Ensure all financial practices adhere to legal and regulatory requirements. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial laws and standards to safeguard the company against financial risks.
- System Proficiency: Utilize ERP system UBW and consolidation software OneStream to enhance financial reporting and analysis.
- Supporting Closing Procedures: Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures to support other colleagues in your team as needed.
You will potentially collaborate with various teams with different needs, necessitating the ability to set priorities, plan, organize, and maintain a flexible work attitude. Moreover, you should possess:
- Currently studying a Bachelor in Finance & Control, Business Economics, Business Administration, or a related field;
- Proficiency in both verbal and written English;
- Residency in the Netherlands;
- Strong communication and social skills.
We are looking for collaborating interns or working students only. Unfortunately we don’t have graduation assignments available for this position.

The focus is on dredging and marine construction, offshore wind, offshore infrastructure and infrastructure in the Netherlands. Its head office is in Rotterdam.
