Applicants should have a PhD in physics, materials science, electrical engineering, or a related field. A deep understanding of device physics, numerical modeling, and computer programming is required. Experience in machine learning and data analysis is highly desirable but not essential.

The postdoc will be based at the Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials, one of the leading institutes in the field of materials science, and will be supervised by Prof. Jan Anton Koster, an expert in the field of photovoltaics.

**Qualifications**:

- university PhD degree in Physics, Material Science, or related disciplines
- fluency in spoken and written English.

You are expected to:

- hold a PhD degree (or will graduate before appointment date) in physics or a similar, related field
- have demonstrable experience in numerical modelling
- have demonstrable experience in machine learning
- show ability to collaborate in an interdisciplinary environment
- have strong communication skills and are motivated to disseminate results to both scientific peers and a broad audience
- be proficient in the English language (oral and written) e.g. with a minimum IELTS score of 7.0 overall and 6.5 on parts
- technical skills: A PhD degree in physics, material science or engineering (or equivalent) is required. A demonstrable background in computer programming, machine learning and/or numerical simulation is essential.

**Conditions of employment**:
We offer you in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities:

- a salary from a minimum of € 3,226 gross per month up to a maximum of € 5,090 gross per month (salary scale 10) based on a full-time position and dependent on qualifications and work experience.
- excellent secondary terms of employment
- a holiday allowance of 8% gross annual income and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus
- participation in a pension scheme for employees
- a fulltime position (1.0 FTE) with a duration of 1 year.
