Manager Capacity Centre

Royal IHC is aiming to appoint a new _Manager _to lead the Capacity Centre Kinderdijk. The Capacity Centre Kinderdijk is one of the production locations of the Capacity Centre organization. This position is becoming vacant due to the increase of _Defence _related projects which mandates internal mobility._

The Capacity Centres are enabling the PMG’s of IHC’s Core and Potential Core to achieve their strategy “Towards a sustainable future”.

The core of IHC is organized through Product-Market Groups that enable the sale and subsequent production of IHC’s products in the most effective and efficient way. A classic matrix organization supports these PMG’s with so called Functional, Corporate Disciplines and Capacity Centres. The Capacity Centres - each with their own expertise - are the production heart of Royal IHC and support the PMG’s in realizing their business plans and the overall Royal IHC strategy.

The aim of the Capacity Centres is to produce the different strategically positioned products by the PMG’s in a safe and efficient manner. They contribute to the realization of the objectives of the relevant PMG. They set, drive and monitor quality standards, efficiency, methodologies, tooling etc. They standardize where possible (creating synergies) and customize where needed. Capacity Centres are responsible for good competence levels, development and internal mobility of the workforce and sufficient capacity to serve all PMG’s. The Capacity Centres will each focus on coverage and will second its team [workforce/capacity] to the PMG for the duration of the project.

The Capacity Centre Kinderdijk is considered to be the core of the industrial basis for production at Royal IHC in the Netherlands with a focus on shipbuilding, pontoon construction and manufacturing of dedicated and bespoke offshore equipment. It also provides manpower and services for lifecycle engineering projects and other Royal IHC projects in the region.

As Manager Capacity Centre you will lead the Capacity Centre Kinderdijk and all its relevant production competences. You will set the direction to instill an effective production approach from the first initiative through to delivery of products, including actions towards continuous improvement of the production e.g. on safety culture, craftsmanship development, future building opportunities and coverage of production facilities. You will also have a focus on external trends to be able to challenge the product management and technology developments to speed up time to market, efficient production, automation of processes and value creation for Royal IHC’s customers. You have a key role in building bridges between internal departments, motivating staff and endorsing working together.

Projects like building complex vessels is not just a sequence of sub-optimal activities, it is a balancing act in order to find the optimum process for the overall project and requires flexibility from all disciplines involved. You must be able to convince individuals, disciplines, and subcontractors to divert from their sub-optimal process to support the overall project.

An important part of the role is to find the balance between line management and project management priorities.

- maintain and implement a 1-3 year operational plan in collaboration with the Capacity Center management.
- ensure continuous improvement from recent and past production projects to ensure value creation and continuous learning while striving for a competitive advantage.
- manage the delivery of Royal IHC’s production strategy to deliver cost savings.
- develop craftsmanship in the Capacity Center Kinderdijk, including an optimal use of the TOC and ensure internal mobility across production departments.
