Starting from 1 August 2024, we have a job opening at our Secondary school for a:
**School Psychologist - Secondary School**

**Post description**
- Providing high-quality counselling to students experiencing a wide range of complex social and emotional difficulties
- Observing students and developing a therapeutic plan or action plan for the guidance of students, discussing this with teachers and other staff, and overseeing its implementation
- Coaching teachers on group dynamics in complex classes and in dealing with complex behavior
- Participating in student MDO’s and referring and guiding support students to external institutions for assistance
- Developing and advising on prevention programs regarding mental health and give workshops for staff, students, and parents
- Part of the safeguarding team and contribute to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of our students
- Employ evidenced-based best practices and methods that are most appropriate for meeting the students’ support objectives
- Update and maintain records on support student’s progress
- Contact relevant school staff, parents, and/or external professionals to gain feedback and share information about students' needs and progress
- Attend support and staff meetings and participate in external network meetings (JES)
- Advising management on the development of policies and plans in the area of student support
- Advising teachers and the care team on complex cases and the intake of new students with learning or social problems

**Requirements**:

- Relevant psychology qualifications, minimum Masters degree, or an equivalent international qualification (must be recognized in the Netherlands) in the area of School Psychology or Developmental Psychology.
- SKJ registration or NIP registration
- Willingness to explore, identify, and implement evidenced-based methods and best practices to enhance student development
- Fluency in both spoken and written English. A working knowledge of Dutch/French/German would be an advantage.

**Desirable**
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of the social-emotional development of children and young people in an international school setting
- Experience of working within multidisciplinary student support teams
- Knowledge of the mental health care providers and educational systems in the region
- Experience in coaching and supporting teachers in meeting individual students’ needs
- Experience and/or qualification in evidence-based intervention methods
- Knowledge of or experience with Positive Behaviour Support

**Skills and Abilities**
- Possess effective communication skills and relate well with all students, teachers, and support staff
- Good organisational and administration skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with others and work effectively within a team
- Ability to work independently and manage own workload
- Ability to cope with emotional situations and remain calm under pressure/during crisis situations

**We offer**
- An appointment based on the Dutch Collective Labour Agreement for Secondary Education (CAO VO), scale 11 OOP. Based on a 1.0 FTE contract, the salary will be between €3,186 - €5,862 gross per month (fulltime) -the specific step in the scale is depending on relevant background and experience
