ASML's Central Privacy Office, based in Veldhoven, is seeking a dynamic and motivated Intern to join our team. The Privacy Office, consisting of 15 dedicated colleagues, is part of the larger Legal & Compliance department, which includes over 100 professionals. Our office serves as the central hub for all privacy and personal data protection matters within ASML. We have adopted a dual-layer approach by establishing a dedicated Privacy Office that collaborates closely with a Privacy Network spread across the business.
Key Focus Areas of the Privacy Office:
- Defining the privacy strategy and framework;
- Leading, overseeing, and continuously improving the implementation of the privacy framework group-wide;
- Advising the organization on privacy and personal data protection-related matters and risks (e.g., through Data Protection Impact Assessments - DPIAs);
- Defining privacy requirements, controls, and embedding them into the organization;
- Raising employee awareness and providing tailored training for specific functions;
**Your Assignment**:
As a Privacy Office Intern, you will actively participate in our team's daily operations and contribute to our strategic initiatives, including the development of an AI Compliance program. This internship offers a unique opportunity to learn about privacy, data protection, AI compliance, and how to navigate a large global organization through collaboration with experienced colleagues. Your tasks will be varied and tailored to your background and preferences, ensuring a challenging and enriching experience.
Key deliverables (might) include:
- Supporting the privacy risk assessment process;
- Advising on questions concerning personal data processing activities and distributing incoming questions and activities to relevant colleagues;
- Contributing to strategic initiatives aimed at continuously improving the team's way of working, such as drafting a communications plan for training and awareness or defining a strategy for embedding privacy requirements in the business’ processes and technology;
- Researching new and ongoing regulatory and legal developments, determining their relevance to ASML, and presenting findings to our team;
- Assisting in the development of an AI Compliance program.
This master apprentice internship is for 3-5 days per week (minimum 2 days working at the office), duration of months 6-12 months. The start date of this assignment is February 2025.
**Your Profile**:
To be a perfect match for this internship, you:
- Are a master student in the final year with a passion for privacy and technology;
- Are enrolled in a program such as, but not limited to, AI & Privacy Law, Information Sciences, (Digital) Technology Law, Communications, European Law, Computer Sciences, Artificial Intelligence;
- Are fluent in English, both oral and written;
- Possess effective communication skills and the ability to connect with relevant stakeholders;
- Have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Are able to independently prioritize your workload;
- Are a team player with the ability to work autonomously;
- Have a hands-on mentality, be proactive, and self-motivated.
**Other requirements you need to meet**:
- You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship;
- You need to be located in the Netherlands to be perform your internship. In case you ‘re currently living/studying outside of the Netherlands, your CV/motivation letter includes the willingness to relocate.
- If you are a non-EU citizen, studying in the Netherlands, your university is willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement).
