**Junior Researcher/ PhD student on in vitro modelling of different types of inflammation in osteoarthritis**:
You will help develop a humanized Joint-on-Chip (JoC) platform for in vitro modeling of OA-related inflammatory phenotypes.

The position is part of the NWO-Perspectief programma OAinject. This national research consortium aims to develop diagnostic tools for early assessment of osteoarthritis (OA) and patient stratification, in combination with easy-to-use disease phenotype-specific intra-articular injection therapies.

You will be involved in the development of a humanized Joint-on-Chip (JoC) platform for in vitro modeling of different pathological - OA-relevant - inflammatory phenotypes. The technical part of the development of this platform will be done by a researcher at the University of Twente. For this position, the focus will be on modeling and understanding various causes of inflammation using different types of primary human cells in culture.

**Work environment**:
You will be appointed at the department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine in the Connective Tissue Repair laboratory. The laboratory hosts a multidisciplinary group of approximately 15 persons including academic staf, PhD students, postdocs and technicians. You are going to work together with experts in cartilage biology, in vitro models, inflammation, genetics and mechanical loading at Erasmus MC and University of Twente. You will be supervised by dr. Roberto Narcisi and prof.dr. Gerjo van Osch.

**Qualifications and skills**:
For this position experience with cell or tissue culture, immuno-fluorescence and with basic (molecular) biology methods and techniques (e.g. realtime-PCR, immuno-histochemistry) is required. Knowledge and experience in inflammation, muscolo-skeletal tissues/cells or organ-on-chip models is a plus. You are creative and you are keen to work in an interdisciplinary team. It is important that your are able to work both independently and within a team. You also have:

- A strong scientific interest and affinity for research in the field of inflammation, cartilage (molecular) biology and disease modeling, with an interest in working with organ-on-Chip model.
- Genuine interest in fundamental research.
- A good command (oral and written) of English.
- A high level of motivation and commitment to produce high-quality work and good organizational and excellent analytical skills.

**Terms of employment**:

- You will receive a temporary position for 4 years. The gross monthly salary is € 3.017;
- in the 1st year and gradually increases to € 3.824;
- in the 4th year (scale OIO).
- Excellent fringe benefits, such as a 13th month that is already paid out in November and a individual travel expense package.
