Research Officer in Data Science for Advanced Therapies at the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy
Job Summary:We are seeking a highly motivated Research Officer in Data Science for Advanced Therapies to join our team at the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy. The successful candidate will contribute to research projects in areas such as extracellular vesicles & cell therapy, immunotherapy, nucleic acids therapeutics for brain cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases.
Key Responsibilities:- Contribute to research projects in areas such as extracellular vesicles & cell therapy, immunotherapy, nucleic acids therapeutics for brain cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases.
- Utilize bioinformatics/DS and AI expertise to deepen the understanding and quantification of high data contents e.g. transcriptomics, proteomics, nano-string, single cell sequencing, immunohistochemical images.
- Support pharmaceutical research in the Department to enhance the development of more effective and safer advanced and conventional therapies through the incorporation of data science, bioinformatics and/or image analysis tools.
- Participate in clinical trials and laboratory projects.
- Assist in managing research projects, including preparation of scientific publications and monitoring grant reports.
- Perform data analysis to derive meaningful insights.
- Provide general administrative and operational support, ensuring the smooth execution of research projects.
- Initiate and contribute to grant writing and applications.
- Liaise and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Possess a Ph.D degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Biostatistics, Computation, Artificial Intelligence or a related discipline.
- Have a minimum of 3 years' pre-clinical, laboratory, and/or clinical research experience in applying data science or bioinformatics in pharmaceutical or health disciplines.
- Demonstrate an excellent command of written and spoken English, and preferably Chinese (including Cantonese and Putonghua).
- Advantageous to have experience in grant management and working in large groups.
- Exhibit organizational skills, responsibility, attention to detail, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
The appointment will commence as soon as possible on a 1-year temporary basis or 2-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable. Other benefits include annual leave, medical benefits and free access to on-campus gyms and libraries.
