Job Title: Vacuum Architect

We are seeking an experienced Vacuum Architect to join our team at ASML, a leading company in the development and manufacturing of lithography systems for the semiconductor industry.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing vacuum and gas flow solutions for our EUV scanners, ensuring high and stable EUV transmission while protecting the in-vacuum optics, reticles, and wafers from molecular and particle contamination.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze fab and field system performance data to identify areas for improvement and develop solutions to address these issues.
  • Translate overall system design into a gas flow and vacuum architecture that meets the requirements for sustained high EUV transmission and suppression of molecular and particle contamination.
  • Design gas flow architecture and implementation proposals for EUV litho tools, quantify performance, and create design specifications for gas flow, partial pressure, and outgassing.
  • Negotiate, define, document, and present specifications for the architecture or subsystem.
  • Steer modeling and analyses to predict and evaluate the functionality of the flow architecture.
  • Take care of the functional integration of the architecture or subsystem, proving, documenting, and presenting its proper functioning with offline and machine tests.
  • Be a critical partner to internal and external customers, providing direction and advice on solutions.
  • Contribute to the group's competence growth by research, experimental testing, and/or cooperation with external research partners.
Requirements
  • MSc or PhD degree in Applied Physics or Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field of study.
  • 5-10 years of work experience in industry in a technical complex environment.
  • Experience with vacuum component selection and vacuum system design and integration.
  • Experience with gas flow engineering and transport phenomena and/or aerodynamics engineering.
  • Theoretical and practical experience with vacuum systems and applications related to the field of high vacuum and sub-atmospheric gas flows.
  • Experience in the semiconductor industry is preferred.
