About the MPH Program

The Simmons University Department of Public Health's Master of Public Health program in Health Equity prepares public health professionals to address health inequities by challenging socio-structural determinants of health. Our program is fully online, offering a robust set of course delivery tools to support high-level student engagement.

Job Summary

Simmons MPH seeks a Course Designer/Developer for an elective course: GIS and Spatial Analysis. The course will be designed for delivery through Simmons Moodle, with a focus on health equity and socio-structural determinants of health. The Course Designer/Developer will work closely with the Director of the Simmons MPH Program across the course design process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop the curriculum for the course, including learning outcomes, online content, assignments, and assessments.
  • Align the course with the Program's Learning Assessment Framework and other program criteria.
  • Work with the Instructional Design Team to develop the course in advance of delivery.
  • Participate in content revisions as needed through the first time the Course is taught.

Requirements

  • Teaching experience and evidence of teaching excellence within related course content.
  • Graduate degree in public health (MPH or related).
  • Demonstrated experience in using GIS software (arcGIS) for public health or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD/DrPH or ABD.
  • Graduate level teaching experience.
  • Online teaching experience.
  • Strong knowledge of online instructional design theories.
