About the Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and accomplished AI Specialist to join our team at the Department of Cardiology, UMC Utrecht. As a Postdoctoral Researcher / Assistant Professor in AI for Cardiology, you will play a key role in advancing our research in the development and application of artificial intelligence in cardiology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and conduct innovative research in the development and application of artificial intelligence in cardiology.
  • Supervise PhD students and junior researchers, promoting their professional growth and ensuring the successful execution of research projects in our department.
  • Develop and maintain state-of-the-art AI research infrastructure, including high-performance computing resources, datasets, and software tools, to support research initiatives and clinical implementation.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of healthcare professionals, data scientists, and engineers to facilitate the seamless integration of AI solutions into real-world healthcare settings.
  • Disseminate research findings through high-impact publications, presentations at conferences, and contributions to grant proposals.
  • Stay current with the latest developments in AI and healthcare, identifying and actively pursuing opportunities for innovation and collaboration.

Requirements
  • PhD in AI, computer science, machine learning, data science, or a related field with a strong emphasis on AI in healthcare.
  • Clear research interest in the development and application of AI in the medical environment.
  • High proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Experience with AI research projects related to healthcare, with a track record of publications in reputable conferences and journals.
  • Experience with Python programming, ML frameworks, and research-oriented packages like NumPy, PyTorch, SciPy, scikit-learn, and Pandas.
  • Experience with deep learning on medical data, during your PhD.
  • Experience with data science, ML/DL infrastructure system administration.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
What We Offer
  • A full-time position (36 hours per week) in a very stimulating and interactive research environment at the Department of Cardiology.
  • A salary between € 3359 and € 6156 gross per month (salary scale 10 or 11), based on full-time employment (36 hours).
  • Temporary employment for 24 months with possible extension.
  • Year-end bonus of 8.3% and holiday allowance of 8%.
  • Pension insurance with ABP. We take care of approximately 70% of the monthly contribution.

  • The option to select additional employment benefits in exchange for gross salary, such as purchasing a bicycle and memberships.
