Overview of Your Role
Key Responsibilities:
This is a pivotal leadership position at Idean. You will be instrumental in enhancing Idean's reputation, expanding its business, and nurturing its talent through Project Leadership, Business Development, and Design Leadership.
Project Leadership:
You will take charge of project delivery as the primary engagement leader, often collaborating with senior leadership on larger, more intricate initiatives. Your role will involve guiding teams of designers, strategists, consultants, technologists, and project managers. You will cultivate and maintain client relationships while providing leadership and hands-on support to the Idean project team. Your involvement will span all phases of the project lifecycle, ensuring that outcomes and deliverables align with user needs and client objectives. You will navigate challenges and ambiguity with your project team, fostering collaboration with clients throughout the creative process, being responsive to feedback, and confidently presenting your team's concepts to stakeholders.
Typical Project Contributions:
Lead a project team to achieve optimal performance while maintaining timelines and team cohesion. Establish quality benchmarks, deeply understanding client goals and requirements for research, insight development, experience modeling, design, and testing. Contribute to the development of insights, defining and prioritizing opportunity areas, and envisioning innovative concepts. Facilitate meaningful customer/user feedback loops through iterative testing and learning cycles. Prioritize MVP features, manage backlogs, and create strategic product roadmaps. Support and guide the implementation of new products.Business Development:
Collaborate with business development teams and fellow leaders to craft strategies, develop proposals, and present to potential clients. Ensure project continuity beyond initial scopes and identify further opportunities within client organizations. Generate content for Idean's marketing initiatives and establish yourself as a thought leader in your field.Design Leadership:
As a member of the design leadership team, you will help foster a vibrant design culture. Specifically:
Manage direct reports, mentoring junior colleagues and providing constructive feedback for their development. Participate in talent acquisition as a hiring manager or team member.Your Role at Idean

7-12 years of professional experience in human-centered design consulting, with expertise in various stages of the product development lifecycle. Proven track record as a design leader in developing experience strategies, design systems, and customer experiences that deliver business results. High satisfaction ratings from peers, end-users, or clients regarding your work. Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to guide high-performing teams through influence rather than authority. Excellent presentation and storytelling abilities. Willingness to travel for research, project delivery, and client engagements. Proficiency in English and Dutch at a business level. Fluency in Dutch (minimum B2 level) and residency in the Netherlands are essential for this role.Additional Qualifications:
A university degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related discipline. Experience across various organizational types (start-ups, corporate, agency/consultancy). Diverse experiences outside the design field that enhance your perspective as a designer. Published thought leadership and a history of public speaking and teaching.
