Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer Leader to join our team at StoneAge, Inc. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design and engineering, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality products on time.

About the Role:

The Mechanical Design Engineer Leader will be responsible for leading the design and development of new automated waterblast systems and accessories, as well as maintaining and improving current tool designs. This role requires excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor junior engineers and provide technical oversight as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Design: Present new product ideas to the Engineering team via regular meetings, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop product requirements.
  • Design Analysis: Perform tolerance analysis, FEA, thermal, and flow analyses as necessary, and generate and maintain engineering drawings from internal and external design criteria.
  • Cost Estimation: Estimate material and fabrication costs for new products and custom products, and communicate cost vs. performance conflicts early in the design process.
  • Patentable Technology: Identify and communicate patentable technology during the creation of new products.
  • Design Reviews: Prepare and facilitate product design reviews, incorporating feedback into designs as permitted given product requirements.
  • Jr. Engineer Oversight: Review product design and analyses of junior team members, providing technical advice and direction as needed.
  • CAD Proficiency: Utilize CAD software (Solidworks preferred) to create detailed designs and assemblies.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience: 5+ years of relevant mechanical design experience, with a strong background in pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Skill Set: Strong knowledge of MS Office software, with experience in product research and development, design for manufacturing, and hands-on mechanical or machining experience.
  • Electro-Mechanical Design: Possess skills in electro-mechanical design and control, including servo drives, motors, motion control systems, PLC programming, and HMI integration.
