As a key component of our platform, observability plays a vital role in ensuring the reliability and smooth operation of our services. Our observability team builds and maintains products and services that enable engineers to understand how their services are behaving in real-time, diagnose issues, and streamline data discovery.

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our observability team. As a key member of this team, you will play a crucial role in shaping how teams work with telemetry data, identifying and advocating for best practices for building, running, and maintaining observable components.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and evolving APIs that will be used by other engineers in product teams, working together with them to identify pain points and opportunities.
  • Identifying and tackling bottlenecks and single points of failure in the architecture aiming to improve the reliability of the observability platform and the overall user experience.
  • Leading project execution end to end, driving features and products from idealization to adoption.
  • Setting technical direction and providing perspective while striving for engineering alignment, quality, and reducing complexity and dependencies.
  • Proposing and advocating for improvements in our processes and tooling following industry standards in the open source community.
  • Advocating and supporting the development of observability culture within the company.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 8+ years of experience working with large-scale distributed systems.
  • Deep understanding of the complexities involved in developing and maintaining large-scale distributed services.
  • Proficiency with Golang.
  • Previous experience with Java.
  • Demonstrated history operating and maintaining distributed systems at scale in a cloud-native environment using Kubernetes, following processes to ensure reliability.
  • Proficiency in designing and evolving distributed system architecture, tackling single points of failure and bottlenecks.
