We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join our team at the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) and the University of Groningen. The successful candidate will work on developing deep learning-based video analysis tools to identify and assess movement disorders from task-based patient videos.

About the Project

The NEMO project aims to advance computer-assisted diagnostic tools using patient data from various sources, including video, electromyography, and brain scans. The PhD position focuses on creating video analysis tools to improve diagnosis accuracy and reduce variability in the classification of hyperkinetic disorders, such as tremor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop deep learning-based video analysis tools for movement disorder diagnosis
  • Contribute to the development of computer-assisted diagnostic tools for movement disorders
  • Collaborate with the Bernoulli Institute for Mathematics, Computer Science, and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Groningen
  • Work with a multidisciplinary team exploring hyperkinetic movement disorders, neuroimaging, and AI technologies
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience with deep learning methodologies, preferably with a focus on video analysis or computer vision
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently
  • High proficiency in English, both written and spoken
  • Strong analytical skills and a critical mindset for addressing research questions
