River Morphology Intern

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented graduate intern to join our team at Arcadis. As a River Morphology Intern / Graduate, you will have the opportunity to work on a challenging project investigating the morphological development of side channels in river floodplains.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct literature research into the dominant factors driving morphological response of side channels;
• Analyze data using field measurements and hydraulic data to derive key parameters in side channel behavior;
• Develop and calibrate a simple model to predict side channel behavior;
• Perform sensitivity analysis into erosion and/or sedimentation speeds of side channels;

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a HBO or Master's program with a relevant background (e.g. civil engineering, earth sciences, hydrology, water management or a similar study);
• Strong knowledge and interest in river morphodynamics, GIS, and/or river modeling;
• Excellent analytical and communication skills;
• Strong Dutch/English speaking and writing skills;
• Ability to travel to our Amersfoort and Zwolle offices;
• Availability for a minimum of 16 weeks (32-40 hours per week), starting preferably in October.
