About the Role:
The Supplier Quality & Development Engineer will drive continuous improvement within our supply chain, focusing on working with key suppliers to ensure product quality and timely deliveries. This role will implement and manage continuous improvement programs with suppliers' senior and executive management to drive measurable and lasting improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with internal departments to validate supplier processes during new project developments and resolve supplier quality claims after project launches.
- Design, implement, and drive Supplier Development projects.
- Participate with suppliers to generate productivity ideas and drive them to completion.
- Drive solutions to raised quality issues and actively participate in the solution of delivery issues.
- Promote a data-driven approach to problem-solving.
- Maintain and effectively use the Suppliers Scorecard Process to drive performance improvement.
- Sustain the Suppliers Audit Program by auditing new suppliers, supporting capacity assessments, and conducting ad-hoc process audits.
Requirements:
- Be involved in projects' early phases to ensure that supplier technology and process capabilities are considered in the Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
- Ensure that suppliers understand project Critical to Quality (CTQ) parameters and verify that CTQs are considered in the supplier's risk assessment and management process.
- Complete the qualification of suppliers' processes.
- Manage supplier audits and related Corrective/Preventive Action Plans.
- Lead supplier improvement programs, acting as a mentor for suppliers on improving Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) ratings.
- Manage improvement projects to reduce the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
- Drive continuous improvement projects applying Lean/Six Sigma approaches.
Competencies:
- Self-directed, confident, analytical-logical thinking, and people skills.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in a technical field related to Quality, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, with 5+ years of meaningful work experience.
- Proven experience in supervising key suppliers' performance and driving improvement with suppliers' senior management teams.
- Demonstrated results in improving suppliers' manufacturing processes and understanding Integrated Supply Chain interconnections.
- Experience in handling complex high-tech, low-volume products and multi-site projects.
- Demonstrated understanding and usage of Root Cause Analysis and Problem-Solving techniques.
- Experience in implementing and improving OEE ratings.
- Experience in driving Productivity projects at suppliers.
- Proven knowledge of establishing and driving Supplier Development Programs.
- Certified in continuous improvement tools (Lean or Six Sigma certified).
- Proven knowledge of ISO9001 standards (certified auditor preferred).
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Cameras and Digital Sensors.
- Experience with PFMEA, APQP, or PPAP.
