ERC-funded PhD Researcher Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented PhD researcher to join our ERC-funded project on moonlighting, which explores the quality of work and wellbeing of contemporary multiple jobholders. The project aims to understand the impact of work fragmentation and combinations on the quality of work and total worker wellbeing.

About the Project

The ERC-funded project "Moonlighting: Understanding the quality and consequences of working multiple jobs" is a cutting-edge research project that studies the quality of work and wellbeing of multiple jobholders in seven advanced economies. The project will rely on new comparative cross-national and dynamic data to investigate the measurement and classification of precarious forms of multiple jobholding, the quality of work among multiple jobholders, and their characteristics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct literature reviews and integrate labour law analysis and policy analysis in the initial sections of the dissertation
  • Analyze large-scale, international survey data to investigate the measurement and classification of precarious forms of multiple jobholding
  • Contribute to project tasks, meetings, and activities
  • Present research results at national and international conferences and workshops
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a social or behavioural science, such as sociology, economics, psychology, or a related field
  • Scientific research skills or willingness to learn them
  • Proficiency in quantitative data analysis and a strong motivation to enhance these skills
  • Collaborative, team-minded, and pro-active attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
What We Offer

We offer a highly stimulating and teamwork-oriented environment, with a focus on academic and professional growth. The employment contract is for one year with a probationary period of two months, and the appointment will be extended for another three years upon favorable evaluation. The salary ranges from €2,425 (in year 1) to €3,060 (in year 4) gross per month on the basis of a full working week of 38 hours.
