Job Vacancy: Assistant Professor in Accounting

We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated Assistant Professor in Accounting to join our team at the Universiteit Utrecht. As an Assistant Professor, you will play a crucial role in advancing our research agenda, contributing to impactful scholarly publications, and inspiring the next generation of financial management professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research and teach courses at bachelor and master level in the areas of financial accounting, management accounting, and financial management.
  • Supervise bachelor and master theses and other research projects by students.
  • Contribute to the development of our research agenda and collaborate with colleagues on research projects.
  • Teach in (some of) the areas of financial accounting, management accounting, and financial management.
Requirements:
  • PhD degree in accounting or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Strong track record of impactful research, as demonstrated by publications and citations in international recognized journals.
  • Strong quantitative skills in econometrics, social sciences, and/or data science.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching, with some teaching experience in an international academic environment and proven ability to inspire students from undergraduate to graduate levels.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and coordination skills.
  • Collaborative and collegial approach to working with colleagues and students.
  • Strong command of spoken and written English.
  • Preferred: ability to teach in Dutch.
What We Offer:
  • A 12-month position with the possibility of a permanent appointment.
  • A workweek of 36 to 40 hours with a minimum gross monthly salary of € 4,332,- and a maximum of € 5,929,- for a full-time appointment (scale 11 of the Dutch Universities' Collective Labour Agreement).
  • 8% holiday pay and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.
  • A pension scheme, partially paid parental leave, and flexible working conditions based on the Dutch Universities' Collective Labour Agreement.
