Job Description

As a researcher at the UMCG Cardiology department, you will be part of a dynamic team that translates clinical problems into scientific research. Our goal is to improve patient care through innovative research and clinical practice.

Project Overview

The PhD candidate will conduct clinical and epidemiological investigations to explore the optimal treatment method for selenium and iron deficiencies in patients with heart failure. This includes examining factors such as the route of administration, specific compound selection, mechanism of action, and overall efficacy. Collaboration with a fellow PhD student focused on translational research will involve validating mechanisms of action in human cardiac tissues.

Responsibilities
  • Execute clinical studies, including patient inclusion, treatment administration, and follow-up
  • Conduct data analyses and publish results in peer-reviewed journals
  • Collaborate with the translational research team to validate mechanisms of action in human cardiac tissues
Requirements
  • Master's degree in medicine
  • Interest in cardiology
  • Ability to express oneself in English in word and writing
What We Offer

A full-time appointment for one year (36 hours a week), with the possibility of extension for a maximum of four years. Your salary will be a minimum of € 3.359,- gross per month and a maximum of € 5.292,- gross per month (scale 10), depending on working experience, based on a full-time appointment. In addition, the UMCG will offer you 8% holiday pay, and 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
