About the Role
The Damen Shipyards is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Mechanical Engineering intern to join our team. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work on designing and developing dredging equipment, including mechanical components.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop dredging equipment and their mechanical components
- Work on projects such as designing a hose reel for deep sea dredging application, a new type of discharge dredge valve, and a modular deep suction dredger
- Collaborate with other departments, such as Purchase or Work Preparation, to discuss design and negotiate with suppliers
- Coordinate and execute tests at our production facilities
- Report and demonstrate results to stakeholders
Requirements
- Bachelor or secondary education student in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Maritime Engineering, Civil Engineering, Dredging Engineering, Fluid Dynamics, Material Physics, or Energy Technology
- Autonomous, practical mindset and result-driven
- Good communication skills and a good command of Dutch and English
What We Offer
The internship will be carried out at the Damen Shipyards yard location. A monthly allowance will be paid for the duration of the assignment. Flexible working hours can be discussed, and proper mentoring at HBO or academic level will be available throughout the project.
