Job Title: Senior Maritime Structural Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Maritime Structural Engineer to join our team at Royal HaskoningDHV Zwolle. As a key member of our Resilience & Maritime NL team, you will play a crucial role in designing and delivering cutting-edge maritime and hydraulic projects in the Netherlands and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform structural analysis and design for a wide range of maritime and hydraulic projects, ensuring safety and compliance with industry standards.
  • Undertake preliminary feasibility studies, prepare Basis of Design and specification documents, develop design documentation and reporting from concept through to detailed design.
  • Support, guide, and mentor junior team members with project engineering work and their professional development.
  • Check and review other engineers' works, as required.
  • Manage and deliver small to medium projects.
  • Contribute to the preparation of commercial, technical, and financial proposals to undertake major and minor engineering projects.
  • Assist where appropriate in business development, including meeting potential or actual clients, writing capability statements, and preparing marketing materials.
  • Undertake site visits and travel as required.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, codes, and technologies, and apply them to optimize project outcomes.
Requirements:
  • Civil or structural engineering degree (or equivalent).
  • Around 20 years of work experience or more in structural design and engineering.
  • Familiarity with key industry guidelines, codes, and specifications.
  • Client liaison and development, with a high level of care to client satisfaction and relationship building.
  • Experience with writing proposals, planning, and running of small to medium projects.
  • Able to consistently deliver quality, accurate, and timely work.
  • Excellent verbal and writing communication skills in Dutch and English, including hosting/facilitating meetings/workshops.
  • Excellent self-management skills, and experience in leading, teaching, mentoring, and managing small project teams.
  • Interest in innovation, digitization, and automation of calculation and design processes.
  • Experience in calculations for existing structures is a plus.
  • Contribute to the growth of the business by identifying opportunities.

As our new senior maritime structural engineer, you will become part of the "Geotechnical and Structural Engineering" team within the Resilience & Maritime NL team. The team consists of 14 geotechnical specialists and 15 structural engineers. From the Netherlands, you will often collaborate with our international colleagues on significant maritime and water engineering projects, both locally and internationally.

Our 240+ colleagues from the Resilience & Maritime NL advisory group are based in Rotterdam (moving to Delft from 2024), Amersfoort, and Nijmegen. The advisory group encompasses a wide range of specialties, including modelling, project management, geotechnics, port master planning, and contract management.
