About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Destinus, a pioneering aerospace technology company. As a key member of our R&D engineering team, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing cutting-edge aerospace components and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead design projects for aerospace components and systems, from conceptual phase to manufacturing, integration, and testing
  • Generate 3D CAD models, drawings, schematics, bills of material, and other related documentation required for manufacturing, integration, and testing
  • Deliver technical documentation, including engineering calculations, analysis, and assumptions to substantiate design decisions and solutions
  • Prepare and participate in design reviews
  • Manage suppliers and manufacturers, addressing technical questions and resolving issues during the manufacturing process
  • Select standard parts, fasteners, equipment, and consumables following best practices and industry standards
  • Contribute to the DMU and configuration management
Requirements
  • BSc., MSc. in mechanical or aerospace engineering; technician qualifications with substantial experience also considered
  • +5 years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer in the aerospace industry
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes: machining, sheet metal forming, composites, and additive manufacturing
  • Excellent CAD and PLM knowledge: part design, DWGs, DMU management
  • Good engineering material properties knowledge
  • Strong engineering fundamentals and analytical skills: dimensioning calculations, load path definitions, basic stress calculations, energy, and power
  • Seal and fastener design knowledge
  • Auxiliary component selection – general electro/mechanical components
  • ISO GD&T knowledge required
  • Fluent in English as a working language; Dutch language beneficial
  • Proficiency in Siemens tool suite: NX, and TeamCenter PLM system, a plus
  • Experience with metallic and composite structure design beneficial
  • Good to have experience with hydraulics, fuel systems, and component design
