Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated individual for a PhD project focused on the gender differences in the socialization of care roles among children. This interdisciplinary research will delve into the reasons behind the underrepresentation of men in care-related professions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth research on the developmental processes influencing boys' perceptions of care roles during middle childhood.
- Utilize a mixed-methods longitudinal design to track changes in gender beliefs and career aspirations over time.
- Examine the impact of family and peer interactions on children's understanding of gender roles.
- Analyze data collected from diverse Dutch families to identify patterns in gender socialization.
Qualifications:
- A (Research) Master's degree in pedagogical sciences, developmental psychology, social psychology, or a related discipline.
- Experience with quantitative research methodologies and statistical analysis of longitudinal data.
- Familiarity with programming survey instruments and conducting experimental tasks.
- Knowledge of gender inequality and socialization theories.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in English and Dutch, with the ability to engage with children and parents in Dutch.
