Welcome to the Payment Products area of ING, where we are seeking a skilled Kotlin development engineer. Our team is part of the Payments NL tribe and plays a crucial role in various processes, including i Deal, Betaalverzoek, payment initiation, transaction reporting, and Insights for all ING channels.

The engineers in our area are responsible for developing new applications and features while continuously improving and maintaining code, monitoring, alerting, and processes. We value innovation and offer numerous opportunities for you to bring your ideas to life. The primary technologies and tools we utilize include Kotlin, Spring Boot, REST, Kafka, Oracle DB, Azure Dev Ops, Maven, and Git, all based on Docker containers on Open Shift/Kubernetes, as well as front-end tech like Web-components (Lit HTML) and JavaScript.

Our team sits at the heart of ING between the core banking applications and the customer, offering an excellent opportunity to create meaningful impact. You will work within the Customer Insights & Connectivity product cluster, specifically with the Open Banking squad, which focuses on developing APIs to open up ING's reliable products to the outside world through the ING developer portal (developer.ing.com).

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

  • Develop and maintain Kotlin, Spring Boot API's, deploy, test, and monitor your applications
  • Create scalable, performant, and clean code and contribute to our engineering culture
  • Work within a small Agile Dev Ops team that takes full ownership
  • Depending on the team, you might be expected to do standby shifts

  • Fluent communication skills in English; Dutch is a plus
  • 3+ years experience with Java and/or Kotlin
  • Bonus points for Kotlin experience, otherwise willing to learn
  • Bonus points for front-end development experience
  • 3+ years experience with the full Dev Ops skill set: coding, testing, deploying, monitoring
