Maintenance Plant Support Technician

OCI Iowa Fertilizer is seeking a skilled Maintenance Plant Support Technician to join our team in Wever, Iowa. This role is responsible for ensuring the upkeep of the property to enhance and maintain its appearance. The successful candidate will perform a wide variety of routine and unexpected tasks to support the plant's operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Keep all related equipment and tools clean, maintained, and stored properly.
  • Conserve maintenance resources by efficiently using equipment and supplies.
  • Safely operate and maintain cultivators, edgers, and power mowers to perform lawn mowing, trimming, and snow removal tasks.
  • Keep grounds free of debris and maintain roadways, parking areas, and sidewalks.
  • Safely operate and maintain power tools, portable pumps, forklifts, man lifts, scissor lifts, trucks, skid steers, snowplows, and front-end loaders.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment such as greasing, fueling, oil & filter changes, belt inspections, tire inflations, and cleaning/washing of equipment.
  • Work overtime hours (turnaround, shutdowns, nights, weekends, on-call).
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Work alongside mechanical/pipe maintenance crafts.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years' experience operating snow removal equipment.
  • 2+ years' experience operating/handling power and hand tools is preferred.
  • A basic mechanical aptitude in vehicle maintenance/repair (side-by-side, golf carts, trucks etc.).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite a plus.
  • Carpentry and building maintenance skills are a plus.
  • Knowledge of mowers, trimmers, power tools and heavy equipment operation.
  • SAP experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to be detailed and thorough in completing work.
  • Must be reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfill obligations.
  • Self-starter, as well as ability to work with little or no supervision.
  • Excellent time management skills. Ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize work to meet targets and deadlines.
  • Able to quickly handle a high volume of projects that always require safe work habits.
  • Able to work in the heat of the summer and cold winter conditions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Bending, kneeling, lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb straight ladders. Some work may require heights in excess of 100 feet.
  • Wearing industrial chemical plant uniforms and PPE as required.
  • Wearing a respirator when/where required to perform inspections/job duties.
  • Confined space entry may be required.
