PhD Researcher in Explainable AI for Incident Response

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented PhD researcher to join our team at the University of Twente. The successful candidate will be part of the Semantics, Cybersecurity, and Services (SCS) group, where they will contribute to the development of innovative AI solutions for incident response.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop explainable AI algorithms for incident response, focusing on multi-modal learning and generative AI.
- Collaborate with industry partners to collect and analyze intrusion alert datasets, and implement these algorithms in real-world SOC environments.
- Conduct research and development in the field of AI-assisted incident response, with a focus on reducing analyst workload and improving decision-making support.
- Contribute to the development of a testbed for evaluating AI algorithms in closed-world and open-world settings.
- Participate in the SCS group's research activities, including workshops, conferences, and publications.
- Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, with a strong foundation in systems security and/or data science/artificial intelligence.
- Proven experience in scientific research, with a strong publication record.
- Proficiency in Python programming and UNIX/Linux systems.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work across disciplines and cultures.
- Fluency in English, with a strong command of written and spoken English.
- A full-time four-year PhD position, with a salary and benefits package aligned with Dutch universities' collective labor agreement (CAO-NU).
