Damen Shipyards is a leading manufacturer of innovative, standardized, and smart-customized designs for tugs, dredgers, and workboats. Our goal is to develop, design, and construct vessels in the most effective and efficient manner, primarily based on series production of (smart-customized) standard designs.

The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Rules and Regulations Engineer to join our standardization team. As a key member of this team, you will be responsible for supporting the Services department and the Yards in case of problems related to standard designs. You will also be involved in shipbuilding standardization and development projects, under the ultimate responsibility of the Project Manager Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the organization to check the impact of new rules and regulations;
• Maintain contact with Class, related to technical issues;
• Develop and maintain standardized booklets/templates;
• Support the Class Society and National Authorities approval process;
• Deliver R&R related content to Design Philosophies, Measurement and Commissioning protocols;
• Set up and perform project plans from end-to-end;
• Analyze input from stakeholders like Product Group, Engineering, Services, and Suppliers;
• Document agreements with Class;
• Smoothen the classification process by removing steps without added value;
• Participate in the Rules & Regulations committee with Damen;
• Develop and give Knowledge Sharing Sessions;
• Perform calculations related to Class Society.

Requirements

• Quality consciousness and a practical approach;
• Easy-going person, pro-active, creative, showing ownership, and result-driven;
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Naval Architecture;
• Working experience in Engineering in the maritime sector;
• Affinity with and above-average knowledge of R&R and the ability to interpret and translate it for our ship-type portfolio and standard solutions;
• Experience with AutoCAD;
• Interest in innovation and an open mindset to new technologies;
• Good communication skills in managing stakeholders and documenting the standard;
• English is a must, Dutch is a plus.
