About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Associate Scientist to join our Value-to-Market (V2M) team within the Scent Technology and Innovation department at International Flavors & Fragrances Inc.

As an Associate Scientist, you will work closely with Perfumers, Commercial, and Operations teams to develop technical and consumer insights, create innovative technologies, and deliver optimum scent solutions to our customers in the Fabric Care category.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to V2M projects, commercial, and customer requests, and drive short-term innovations to meet consumer needs.
  • Define the optimum test set-up, execute, and translate learnings into insights and recommendations for the relevant team.
  • Support the innovation deployment to internal and external stakeholders/customers.
  • Conceive, design technical studies, conduct simple patent searches, and build understanding on Fabric Care product formulations and ingredients.
  • Proactively react to trends, customer, and consumer needs, bringing new opportunities.
  • Participate in customer meetings, present results, and technical insights, and promote IFF scent solutions.
  • Participate in fragrance evaluation panels.
  • Follow safe laboratory practices.

Requirements

  • Result-driven and proven track record in problem-solving.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and has a solutions-focused approach.
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal communication, and writing skills.
  • Design of experiment (DoE) knowledge.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Efficient planning and project management skills.
  • Experience in product application/development.
  • Experience working in the fragrance/flavor or fast-moving consumer goods industry.
  • Broad chemistry knowledge (organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, colloid chemistry, surfactants, rheology, etc.).
  • Fluent in English (both verbal and written).

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of consumer good formulations, polymer, surfactant.
  • Good olfactory evaluation skills.
  • IP knowledge.

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in science & technology, chemical engineering, or related discipline.
  • Proven track record in problem-solving.
  • Some experience in the chemical, consumer goods, or fragrance industry would be desirable.
