Job Description

The Lead Academic Sustainability Expert will be responsible for providing strategic guidance and oversight to our management and development activities in Europe. You will work closely with our Managing Director and other team members to ensure that our policies and practices align with our mission and vision.


Key responsibilities include:



  • Providing expert advice on sustainability-related matters to support our decision-making processes;
  • Developing and implementing strategies to promote sustainable economic development in Europe;
  • Maintaining strong relationships with academic institutions, research centers, and other stakeholders to leverage their expertise and resources;
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of our programs and initiatives and identifying areas for improvement;
  • Contributing to the development of our organizational policies and procedures.


Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:



  • A Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant field such as sustainability, environmental science, economics, or business administration;
  • At least 5 years of experience in a senior leadership position in academia, research, or a related field;
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful sustainability initiatives;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders;
  • Fluency in English, with proficiency in additional languages a plus;
  • A commitment to our organization's values and mission.


Benefits

This is a part-time role (4 annual meetings, including at least one face-to-face meeting in Utrecht) with a commitment of 4 years. Members of the Continental Supervisory Board receive no remuneration for their work but any expenses will be reimbursed. Payments will be made transparently and explained in our annual accounts.
