About the RoleAs a Lead Welder, you will be responsible for making welded connections in series or repeat orders. You will need to pass an annual proficiency test by creating a test piece (validation process). Your work will involve four main tasks:
Preparation- Read and understand drawings, photos, and work instructions;
- Read work order and welding joint drawings;
- Set up welding machines and apply appropriate tools;
- Consult with the Gap Leader on the approach to the work;
- Ensure the correct work sequence to prevent distortion.
- Insert parts into molds or clamp them securely;
- Perform manual welding using various techniques;
- Weld joints with resistance welding machines;
- Ensure high-quality welds meeting industry standards.
- Check the quality of welds and verify they meet specifications;
- Measure dimensions using control jigs;
- Inspect the appearance of welds and adjust tools or machines if necessary;
- Call the Gap Leader for complex issues or quality deviations.
- Remove weld spatter from products using a wire brush;
- Makes corrections to rejected products and document digitally;
- Prevent weld spatter during manual welding using wire sleeves.
To succeed in this role, you should have experience with MIG/MAG or TIG welding. You must be willing to work in a 2 or 3 shift system and available full-time for a longer period. Strong reliability, accuracy, and attention to detail are essential for this position. Although not necessary, welding certificates or diplomas are valuable assets.
