About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Web Application Engineer to join our Home Imagination Platform team at IKEA. As a technical lead, you will be responsible for guiding the design and development of web and cloud architectures, and core technology, for our Amsterdam development team in close collaboration with our California teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical and process improvements to improve features, scalability, reliability, and usability of the IKEA Kreativ web app.
  • Reliably coordinate complex technology roadmaps and be a close trusted partner to product owners.
  • Drive audience growth with a seamless customer journey for IKEA Kreativ, working closely with other areas within IKEA to design, build, and develop an integrated, omnichannel customer experience.
  • Design and promote healthy and effective engineering practices in the team, conducting code reviews to ensure code and architecture quality, writing and reviewing software design documents, and driving efficient and effective test automation.
  • Serve as a trusted and effective liaison with the broader IKEA technical organizations.
  • Help build and nurture a new start-up team within Home Imagination Platform, helping recruit, interview, mentor, and motivate new team members.

Requirements

  • Strong foundations in Computer Science and software engineering, with a university degree in Computer Science from a competitive program preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience engineering substantial web full-stack codebases live in production.
  • Proficient in Javascript/Typescript for frontend development.
  • Demonstrated excellence in solving complex systems design problems.
  • Experience successfully leading 3+ person technical teams.
  • Broad and deep understanding of the modern Web Application technical stack, including browsers, backend, end-to-end testing, and cloud development.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python programming and proficient with SQL.
  • Bonus: experience in 3D graphics is a plus.
