Within the Alfa Laval Business Unit Heat & Gas Systems, we specialize in developing sustainable equipment and installations tailored for the maritime sector. Our clientele includes ship owners and shipyards globally.

Role Overview

The Automation Development department is responsible for maintaining and creating tools for multidisciplinary automation solutions within BU Heat and Gas Systems, with a primary focus on environmental solutions for marine vessels.

We are seeking a motivated and results-driven individual with a comprehensive understanding of software architecture and development methodologies.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Engaging in software development for our Alfa Laval systems.
  • Crafting user interfaces for our systems.
  • Collaborating with engineering teams to enhance software development efficiency and quality.
  • Navigating the complexities inherent in software development.
  • Designing system integration tests and establishing CI/CD pipelines for software testing.
  • Proactively automating processes as needed.
  • Addressing cyber security aspects of our systems.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a creative thinker and adept problem solver with a keen eye for detail.

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • A university degree or Bachelor of Engineering in fields such as Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or Industrial Automation (MSc, MEng, BSc, BEng).
  • Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, and/or TypeScript, with sufficient experience to work independently.
  • Familiarity with Git.
  • Understanding of object-oriented principles and best practices.
  • Knowledge of Angular, HTML/CSS is advantageous.
  • Experience with C++, Azure DevOps, and Scrum is a plus.
  • Exposure to PLCs (Structured Text, B&R) and related standards (ISA88, PackML, OPC UA) is beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills.
