As a specialized Indium Phosphide foundry, we focus on Photonic Integrated Circuits, enabling the unique integration of semiconductor lasers, amplifiers, detectors, and high-speed modulators. Your Responsibilities:
- Join our Technology Competence Centre, which provides exceptional expertise in Photonics Integration, operating under the CTO office to maintain the technological integrity of our development efforts and guide the R&D program.
- Serve as the key competence owner in device/laser physics, enhancing the R&D team with your knowledge and acting as a mentor across the organization.
- Collaborate with various departments to promote synergy and coherence in technological progress.
- Contribute to the strategic planning and execution of our technology roadmap, aligning it with business goals and ensuring the smooth integration of innovative solutions.
- Provide technical expertise in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and engage in improvement initiatives for the integration and process teams.
- Grasp the interplay between manufacturing processes and device performance.
- Assess existing processes and customer feedback to propose optimal solutions that meet or exceed specifications in power, design, linearity, bandwidth, and more.
- Lead the development of various integration technologies, significantly advancing our high-speed integration platform aimed at coherent optical communications.
- Support modeling and characterization activities to enhance and expand our Process Design Kit (PDK).
- Understand and actively gather market requirements, translating them into specifications for current and future building blocks.
- Convert market needs into a practical technology roadmap that strengthens the foundry's capabilities and maintains our position as a leading foundry.
We are seeking a candidate who possesses:
- A PhD in Integrated Photonics or a related field with a focus on device physics.
- A proven track record with InP-based active devices.
- Over 10 years of industry experience.
- Extensive knowledge of PIC design for optical communications, LiDAR, and/or sensing.
- Strong analytical skills to diagnose issues and propose practical, effective, and innovative solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, confidence, and the ability to build trust and respect with colleagues.
- A commitment to delivering high-quality work and a self-critical mindset.
- A willingness to pursue skill development and stay updated on the latest industry advancements.
- Availability for occasional travel to international conferences and project meetings.
