Kitchen Porter Job Description

We are seeking a hardworking and enthusiastic Kitchen Porter to assist the kitchen team with daily operations at Via Amsterdam.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute stewarding tasks, including washing and storing of dishes, and keeping work spaces neat and clean.
• Support the kitchen team in preparing ingredients and basic cooking tasks, such as slicing, chopping, and assembling dishes for the buffet.
• Ensure all kitchen surfaces, floors, and equipment are cleaned and sanitized according to health and safety standards.
• Assist with unloading and organizing deliveries, storing items correctly, and keeping track of inventory to inform the Head Chef of any shortages.
• Properly dispose of waste and recycling, ensuring bins are emptied regularly.
• Follow all health and safety regulations, including food hygiene practices, to ensure a safe working environment.
• Work collaboratively with chefs and other kitchen staff to maintain a smooth and efficient kitchen operation.

Requirements:

• You are a team player, but also know how to keep yourself busy and work independently.
• You enjoy being in a dynamic work environment with a variety of tasks to accomplish throughout your shift.
• You find it important to work in a clean, tidy, and organized environment.
• You are flexible to work various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
• Knowledge of basic food hygiene and safety standards is an advantage.
• Previous experience in a kitchen or stewarding role is preferred, but not essential, as on-the-job training will be provided.
• You have a good understanding of English, and Dutch is not required.
