We are seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to join our team at Universiteit Utrecht. The successful candidate will be part of a research project focused on developing and testing educational tools to foster safe sports environments.
Job DescriptionThe PhD researcher will work on designing, developing, and testing interventions to prevent interpersonal violence in sports. This will involve collaborating with a research team of internationally recognized experts and a consortium of societal partners. The researcher will have the opportunity to develop and apply their skills in both technical and social sciences.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop educational tools, such as a serious game and/or AI Dialogue Trainer, to foster learning and awareness about interpersonal violence and bystander behavior in sports environments.
- Conduct research on safe sports environments, including exploring how to ensure safe environments for children and what is demanded from athletes, trainers, coaches, and board members.
- Delve into the experiences of safeguarding officers to understand the dynamics they face when dealing with cases of interpersonal violence at grassroots sports clubs.
- A Master's degree in a relevant field, such as sports studies, human-computer interaction, or a related social science discipline.
- Excellent English language skills, both in speaking and writing. Dutch language skills are a plus.
- Interest in, or experience with, both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
- Interest in, or experience with, programming and machine learning.
- A position with a large degree of freedom and high engagement with societal relevant partners to create impact with your research.
- A working week of 38 hours and a gross monthly salary between €2,872 and €3,670 in the case of full-time employment.
- 8% holiday pay and 8.3% year-end bonus.
- A pension scheme, partially paid parental leave, and flexible terms of employment.
