Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Accounting and Finance Specialist to join our team at VONQ. This is a full-time opportunity based in Rotterdam.

About the Role

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the Financial Controller with the record-to-report process. You will work closely with the Financial Controller and other members of the finance team during the monthly closing process, while performing general accounting tasks throughout the month and maintaining contact with other departments (HR, Legal, etc.) regarding daily activities.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts, including journal entries at the end of the month, deferrals, and outstanding income and expense accounts;
  • Processing payroll journal entries, including matching with pay stubs and payroll tax returns;
  • Filing monthly/daily VAT returns and assisting with other statutory filing requirements;
  • Collaborating with the AP accountant to set up and maintain vendor administration;
  • Working with the AP accountant to manage company credit card expenses;
  • Managing the financial team's email inbox;
  • Maintaining bank access and authorizations;
  • Maintaining contact with banks, pension funds, and other financial service providers;
  • Maintaining contact with other departments regarding daily accounting activities;
  • Supporting and assisting the Finance Manager and Financial Controller with internal audits and process improvements;
  • Creating ad-hoc reports and analyzing AR & AP data as needed.
About You

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Accountancy or Finance, with at least 2 years of experience in accounting;
  • Proficiency in English and Dutch;
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel;
  • Experience with Twinfield/Basecone/Salesforce/Exact Online is an asset;
  • Good analytical skills and a hands-on approach;
  • Organized, detailed, able to work under pressure, and deliver accurate results;
  • A proactive and entrepreneurial mindset.
