Job Description:

The increasing reliance on information and communication technologies has led to a heightened risk to our cyber security. As our society and economy become increasingly digital, it is essential to consider the security implications of this trend.

Eindhoven University of Technology is at the forefront of this challenge, with the SECurity cluster offering a wide range of security topics, including IoT security, network monitoring, social engineering, and criminal markets, access control, formal methods, and quantum security.

We are seeking two PhD researchers to join our team and contribute to the development of secure Internet of Things (IoT) systems. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research projects, collaborating with academic and industrial partners to ensure the relevance of their work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research in the field of IoT security, with a focus on defense and collaborative security monitoring and response.
  • Develop new methods and techniques for detecting and identifying attacks, attackers, and suitable responses in collaboration with others.
  • Collaborate with industrial partners to ensure the practical relevance of the research.
  • Contribute to the development of secure IoT systems, with a focus on design, defense, attack, governance, and privacy.

Requirements:

  • A master's degree (or an equivalent university degree) in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • A strong background and interest in cybersecurity.
  • Experience in network monitoring, collaborative security, and/or machine learning is welcome, but not required.
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team and interested in collaborating with industrial partners.
  • Initiative and motivation to work independently.
  • Interest in developing your teaching skills and coaching students.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English (C2/C1 level).

Conditions of Employment:

  • Full-time employment for four years, with an intermediate evaluation after nine months. You will spend 10% of your employment on teaching tasks.
  • Salary and benefits in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, PhD scale.
  • A year-end bonus and annual vacation pay.
