Job Summary
The Safety and Security Officer is a critical member of our university community, responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our students, faculty, and staff. This role requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide physical security and access control to university property
- Lock and unlock doors of campus buildings
- Monitor electronic surveillance devices and patrol campus on foot
- Issue university identification badges to students, faculty, staff, and visitors
- Operate telephone and two-way radio equipment
- Receive and deliver mail/packages
- Document incidents and make notifications to emergency responders as needed
- Provide positive customer service to staff, students, faculty, and visitors
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; 1 year of verifiable job experience preferred
- 1 year of verifiable security or safety experience preferred
- Ability to work varying schedules, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to work in often uncomfortable indoor and outdoor locations, exposed to extreme weather conditions
Working Conditions
- Officer will be exposed to loud noises and vibration
- Officer will work alone in low light and dark conditions
